Getting Your Home Ready

I cannot stress enough how important it is to prepare your home appropriately for a sale.  There is no magic formula that can be applied to every property because of the uniqueness of each; however, there are some basic principles to abide by in order to achieve the most money the market will bear.  As well, there are some things that are important to increase salability and others that have more to do with attaining a higher selling price.

No matter what type of property you have or what you think you may need to do before you sell, do me one favour…Talk to me before you invest your time and money.  Far too often, I have seen people invest in renovations or cosmetic repairs that do not give a positive return in their sale.  Remember, what you like may not always be what is most saleable…ouch!  I hope that didn’t hurt your feelings because I certainly didn’t mean to.  Here’s my point, before you spend any time or money let me give you some objective advice on the salability of your home and what you could do to improve its value.  I’m in a lot of properties every day and I have helped hundreds of people sell their homes.  One pot of coffee and an hour of your day could save you some time and money.
